Safeguarding
Children come first, including in how we tell their stories.
Our commitments
- Every partner we fund must have, or adopt with our help, a written child safeguarding policy.
- Anyone who works with children through us is screened, signs our code of conduct and is never left alone with a child.
- We do not support orphanage visits or short-term volunteering with children, and we do not fund residential care where family-based care is possible.
- Concerns are taken seriously, handled confidentially and reported to the right local authorities.
Photos and stories
- We take and publish photos only with a guardian's written consent and the child's own agreement.
- We show children as people, not as objects of pity: no images at their lowest moments, no staged scenes.
- We never publish a child's full name, school name together with location, or anything that shows where they live.
- Photos are stripped of location data before they are published, and removed on request.
Report a concern
If you are worried about a child connected to our work, email us with the subject "Safeguarding". If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
