Founder

Scott Park

Scott Park has volunteered abroad for years, including in Thailand in 2020 and in Congo in 2025.

Those trips changed how he thinks about giving. A big one-off gift matters less than small help that keeps coming. The people in a community know best what they need, so outsiders should follow their lead. And the people who give deserve to see exactly where their money went, because that is what makes them give again.

Oriel is built on those lessons. It starts with children's learning, reaches out to the families who are struggling to get by, and keeps every gift and payout on a public ledger anyone can check. Scott plans to go back to the field about once a quarter, to work alongside local partners and post what he sees here.

What we hold to

  1. Help that keeps coming

Small, steady support matters more than one big gift. We plan programs a partner can count on, year after year.

  2. The community leads

The people who live there know best what they need. We fund what local partners propose, not what looks good from outside.

  3. Every gift in view

Every gift and every payout will sit on a public ledger anyone can check, with receipts and plain-language reports.

  4. Children first

No orphanage visits, no short-term volunteering with children, and no photo of a child without a guardian's written consent.

Why the name

An oriel is a window that leans out from a wall to catch more light and a wider view. We want to be that for children's learning: more light, in places that have too little of it. It is also how we want to be seen: through clear glass, with every gift and every payout in view on a public chain. Our Chinese name, 明窗, comes from 明窗淨几, the bright window and clean desk of a good place to study.

Partners

CHAINBRIEFCHAINBRIEF, a crypto news outlet, is our media partner and will report our progress gift by gift.

QURATORQURATOR, an art docent service from the same founders, has pledged a share of its revenue. Its gifts begin once we are registered and will be recorded in our public ledger.

We are looking for a first local partner, in Korea or abroad: a school, community group or registered NGO already working with children.
